Vital Features of Radar Detectors to Look for

None of us would want to part with his hard-earned money just to pay speeding tickets. Being issued a ticket and disturbing you from where you are going is enough reason to have a radar detector installed in your car. When you are rushing to attend an important appointment, or you have an emergency medical situation, driving over speed limits must be the most logical thing to do. There are many other reasons why we have to drive faster than the allowed speed limit, and that makes a radar detector a must to have.

Investing in a more expensive but dependable radar detector can actually save you more money because, for sure, you will be paying more for speeding tickets when you buy a cheap and ineffective radar detector. Here are the features of a radar detector that you should look for.

360-Degree Laser Detection

Selecting a two-sensor radar detector will ensure that your device will be able to detect laser beams in front, rear, and sides of your vehicle.  In contrast, a one-sensor radar detector will only be able to detect laser beams that are located in front. Choosing a two-sensor radar is better because you will never know where laser beams can come from.

Higher Sensitivity and Selectivity

Radar detectors can either have default levels of sensitivity in highway or city mode. Although detectors with highway mode get more false alerts, it is still more popular between the two. City mode detectors are more appropriate for urban driving. When a radar detector has high selectivity, it can differentiate laser from radar and where these bands are coming from.

Capacity in Detecting RDDs

With the development of RDDs or radar detector detection machines by police, they have the mechanism to know if a car is using a radar detector. But manufacturers of radar detectors will not be left behind by coming up with radar detectors that can detect RDDs. This feature of radar detectors will stop emissions of signals from your device or will shut down when an RDD is detected.

Smartphone Compatibility

mapBuying a radar detector that can be connected to your smartphone makes it more ideal because it will leave fewer traces that you are using a radar detector. While it is a bad idea to display your radar detector on your dashboard or anywhere in your car that it can be easily seen, having it connected to your smartphone will decrease chances that your device can be seen by police. A radar detector with voice and visual alerts will help you to be always cautious of any information about being detected by police. Some radar detectors also have GPS technology which makes your device more functional.…
